We are looking for an outstanding candidate to join our interdisciplinary research group in the field of Molecular Electronics as part of our SNSF-funded Sinergia project. This postdoctoral position is available from January 2023.
You will design and develop a variety of Nitrogenated Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (N-PAHs) encoding functionalization that allows to study their charged or excited-states on surfaces using time-resolved AFM/STM. Organic synthesis will be your everyday tool to tackle the challenges associated with achieving fine-tuned electronic properties and various self-assembled nanostructures of N-PAHs.
You are an independent, curious, creative, and ambitious team player who enjoys interdisciplinary science, mastering new things, and rigorous experimental work.
·
PhD degree in organic chemistry with a strong track record
·
Strong background in organic synthesis, preferably with experience in the synthesis of N-PAHs or fused electron donor-acceptor (D-A) ensemble or paracyclophanes with D-A structure, including work under moisture- and oxygen-free conditions
·
Solid experience with common analytical and purification methods (e.g., NMR, UV-Vis, Cyclic Voltammetry, HPLC, MS)
Good command of written and spoken English
We look forward to receiving your application by email to shi-xia.liu@unibe.ch by January 31, 2023.
It must include a letter of motivation (max 2 pages), a Curriculum Vitae, contact details of two references, and a research summary highlighting your experience with organic synthesis. Only complete applications compiled in a single pdf file will be considered. With the following link you will get an overview of recent publications of
